Greenville, Michigan – Small Business Deal Advisors, LLC (SBDA) is excited to announce the successful sale of Greenville, MI-based Castle Brewing Co. to Hophog LLC, a new entity created by the majority owners of Big Boiler Brewing in Lowell, MI.

Founded in 2012, Castle Brewing is a restaurant and microbrewery located in Greenville, MI. Castle is recognized for its award-winning craft beer produced in-house by an experienced brew team.

Formerly known as 57 Brew Pub, Castle Brewing was purchased in 2017 by three local investors. Following the purchase, the Company was re-branded as “Castle Brewing Co.”, which was partly in tribute to J.R.’s Roller Castle, a roller rink that operated for many years on the present-day location of the brewpub. In addition to re-branding the Company, the new owners updated the interior, installed digital signage in front of the building along M-57, and renovated the outdoor space by creating a beer garden complete with an outdoor bar and 12 outdoor taps.

With other business interests demanding more time and attention, the partners decided to sell Castle Brewing. They engaged SBDA to handle the marketing and sale of the business.

The sellers stated the following, “Thank you, Small Business Deal Advisors. Your confidential marketing efforts were comprehensive and your guidance throughout the process was invaluable. The buyers, with their extensive experience, are a fantastic fit and we’re excited to watch Castle Brewing enter its next phase of growth.”

The buyer, Hophog LLC, was created by Brent Slagell and Jim Zawacki. Excited about the acquisition, Brent commented, “We are very pleased to be adding Castle Brewing to our family. We love Greenville and are looking forward to investing in the community and company. Thank you to all the parties involved. It’s been a great experience!”

SBDA served as an M&A Advisor to Castle Brewing. This included providing advisory expertise and managing the preparatory, marketing, due diligence, and negotiation phases of the transaction.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
