Grand Rapids, MI-based Small Business Deal Advisors (“SBDA”) is pleased to announce the successful sale of Professional Courier Services (“PCS”) to Grand Rapids Venture Capital.
Professional Courier Services is a same-day small package delivery/errand service business based in Grand Rapids, MI. The company offers same day on demand delivery services these can include court filings, package delivery, store delivery, lab pickup, expedited package pickup/delivery, deposit pickup, and samples pickup.
Professional Courier Services was established in 1978 to meet the special needs of the legal community in Grand Rapids. The founder’s goal was to provide a truly specialized errand service that would meet not only time sensitive requirements for legal documents but also provide the added value of an errand runner service. Professional Courier Services’ attention to detail, friendly capable couriers, and most importantly, timely delivery and completion of errands, was greeted with enthusiasm in the business community. Now, PCS provides these services for banks, ad agencies, hospitals, accounting firms, national and international expediting companies, and numerous other businesses.
Cathy Smith, the founder of PCS, engaged Small Business Deal Advisors to assist with the sale process so she could retire.
“My experience with Small Business Deal Advisors was positive and reassuring from start to finish, commented Cathy, “After investing over 40 years in building my business I had no clue or expertise in turning around and valuing and cashing in on my years of work. I found their knowledge and research in establishing a fair value and marketing plan crucial to start this process. Once we hit the market there was immediate interest from multiple parties. My broker, Scott, assisted me in vetting and sorting through potential buyers and without pushing gave me solid information to base my decision on.
“Once due diligence started Scott worked as a great liaison between the buyer and myself. He filtered statements, questions and feedback to present me with the important things to focus on. Scott was also receptive to my concerns, questions and yes sometimes frustration and helped me process through these thoughts and feelings. His insight and experience in dealing with people was invaluable and I respected his input.
“I truly appreciate the service, knowledge and expertise I received from Scott and Small Business Deal Advisors in the relatively smooth and expedient sales of my business.”
After many months of pandemic related uncertainty and looking at over a hundred businesses, GRVC acquired PCS in hopes to carry on the legacy of Cathy’s amazing business. PCS has been known for providing best-in-class service and reputable delivery. GRVC wants to focus on learning the business and developing innovative technology and marketing strategies to grow the company moving forward. Our core values will still remain intact, while focusing on further developing an already reputable solution for West Michigan companies that need quality delivery solutions.
In addition to the courier business, GRVC and PCS is also adding a last-mile warehouse space near the airport to offer more logistics services, including warehousing and fulfillment, 3PL, last-mile delivery and a full range of transportation options to its customers. With these developments, we hope to increase the range of customers we can service to include larger packages and white-glove solutions. As in most cases, we are always looking for potential drivers and filling necessary positions accordingly. Please check out our postings on Indeed. We look forward to continuing serving the West Michigan area for years to come.
